costuming stuff
Going to a con soonish (for the first time this decade), and I have zero idea what to wear.
It's an anime con, so I'm prolly doing a fandom-inspired shawl or something for the Friday at least. I would like to do at least one cosplay, but finding a character that is recognizable and old enough to drink without being
1. boring as all get (aka soccer mom/corporate slave with one distinguishing accessory)
2. military (Sally Po--been there, done that; fantasy armor seems to have either no belly coverage or be full plate )
3. problematic as all get (see: every CLAMP grown-up ever, with the possible exception of Sakura's mom)
is really challenging me. Doesn't help that the majority of series I've followed for the last 15 years or so are either obscure and/or manga-only or tokusatsu. I haven't decided if it's worth dyeing my hair green to go as Nova Satori (from ROBOTECH--ancient but I've been wanting to go as her since I was 10, so....)
I don't want to deal with wigs or binding, so most masculine characters are out. I'm a little skeeved out about dressing like a teenager. I'd do a sentai costume in a heartbeat if I had a group, but that's not happening (and the villains all have full suit costumes because that makes editing for int'l versions easier). If push comes to shove, I have a bunch of KR OOOs pins, but it's still disappointing.

Doing human form of nonhuman characters is kinda popular right now. Kyo and Erin and a bunch of us are working on ballroom dance interpretations of the Evee forms from Pokemon.

At this point, I'm thinking I will prolly end up thrift storing a hoodie or some such to decorate like my favorite Kamen Rider characters.
